How can  Chiropractor  Help you if you live in Simi Valley ?

Before I begin, let me give you a little insight to where my perspective on the healing comes from. By training, I’m a scientist. I am really good at looking at issues critically and deciphering facts and problems based on factual evidence and sound theories. At the same time, I always had an interest in alternative medicine and while I lived in Seattle for 5 years, I had the chance to experience directly and learn various healing modalities such as naturopathic physician care,  acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic in Simi Valley.

Neck Strain

Some of my knowledge comes from being the inquisitive patient, some comes from discussions with students of Bastyr College of Naturopathic medicine who I befriended while in Seattle.  While in Simi Valley I also took several classes on Reiki, and became a Reiki Master/Teacher and hence I have the insiders perspective on how energy healing works and what it can and can’t do.I am a strong advocate of alternative therapies in conjunction with or sometimes instead of traditional medicine. However, recently, I have been really bothered by practices of chiropractor (some not all) and I feel that there are many out there that take advantage of the general lack of understanding of how the human body works in patients to keep their businesses going.

Lumbar Spinal Stenosis I play a lot of hockey and have a bad back and have had foot pain for a number of years now and after much thought, I decided to go to a local chiropractor to get some relief. I had talked to a neighbor who told me he had a bad back as well and used a chiropractor on a regular basis. He recommended his chiropractor and I setup an appointment for an initial visit where they run some tests and determine what type of treatment you will need. The cost of my initial visit was $50 and the initial visit was about an hour in length. When treatment started, my first treatment was initially a little scary as I had never had my back cracked or manipulated before. You see, you lay on a table and the chiropractor puts pressure on your spine with a quick movement causing your back to make a popping noise, which the chiropractor said was a type of gas that your body produces and the sudden popping noise is harmless. Of course I signed the waiver you get when you first sign up to get treatment allowing them no legal responsibility should you suffer any problems or side effects. When my chiropractor was finished with the treatment, he put some ice cold gel, which is an anti-inflammatory on my back and if felt great after each treatment. I now use the anti-inflammatory all the time when my back gets a little sore from too much hockey or physical activity. I ended up going to the chiropractor for about 15 treatments and felt a great deal of relief from the chiropractic appointments. After each visit you feel so much better as the manipulation relieves tension in the body. The doctor also helped me with some stretching exercises for my back and showed me how to maintain my posture and keep good back health by even stretching a certain way while driving my car which was bothering me as well. He also suggested buying some ankle weights to help build strength for some meniscus pain I was having in my right knee as well which also helped a great deal. Overall I had a great experience with my local chiropractor and will use them again if I have future problems. Sciatic Nerve Treatment

A chiropractic doctor is probably one of the most misunderstood healthcare practitioners in the medical profession. Through the years they have been looked at askance by doubters who are full of suspicion. In times past, they have been called quacks, or worse. This is due, in part, to the public's narrow and limited view of medical treatment - being that solely of administering prescription drugs and performing surgery. It's unfortunate that the majority of people believe this is all there is to health care. There truth is there is more to health care than drugs and surgery! A great deal more!Sad to say, but even some chiropractic patients haven't a real clear understanding of what chiropractic is. And for those who have never been to a chiropractor, most are totally misinformed as to the make up of the profession. The fact is chiropractic is the largest drug-free form of health care and the third largest form of any health care in North America. What is Chiropractic? The word "chiropractic" is a blending of the Greek words cheir (hand) and praxis (action) and means "done by hand." Chiropractic is an alternative medical system in that the practitioner takes a different approach from conventional medicine in diagnosing, classifying, and treating medical problems.Essentially, chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the body's structure - primarily that of the spine - and the body's function. Doctors of chiropractic use hands-on therapy called manipulation (or adjustment) as their core procedure. Comparable to an MD? So is the training of a chiropractor as rigorous as that of a medical doctor? The answer is a resounding, yes. Today's doctor of chiropractic receives an extensive educational background beginning with three years of pre-chiropractic study. From there they advance into a four-year course of study. A student of chiropractic spends as many hours in the study of human physiology as that of a medical doctor. Chiropractic programs require a minimum of 4,200 hours of combined classroom, laboratory, and clinical experience. The difference between the education of an MD and that of a chiropractor lies in the fact that an MD trains in pharmacology and surgical procedures and chiropractor trains in the care of the spine.Worth the Cost? Some will assert that it costs too much to go to the chiropractor. However, the opposite is true. The fact is that oftentimes when a person is treated by a chiropractic doctor for one certain symptom, the adjustments (treatments) result in a higher level of overall health and well being. Can a Chiropractor Help People With Lower Back Pain?

For example, a mechanistic chiropractor may treat low back pain by working to rehabilitate a sacroiliac joint and then release the client when the sacroiliac joint returns to normal, pain-free function. A holistic chiropractor will treat the client until subluxations (spinal misalignments causing nerve irritation) are fully resolved and then broaden their attention to include general subluxation correction in the entire spine in order to promote general wellness. Both approaches have real value. While imposing limits on treatment based on the limits of what peer-reviewed research can substantiate is important, holistic chiropractors acknowledge that progress in science occurs by pushing the limits of understanding and treating patients in ways that current best evidence may not fully support. The periphery of science is where progress is usually made - though it is also where quackery finds refuge.3. Are you injured or are you dysfunctional? In other words, did your pain come on suddenly from an injury or did it set in more slowly due to something you repeatedly do? Sudden pain usually means an injury occurred. Sometimes it is a car accident, or a fall, or a sports injury. These type of injuries may be what a certain type of chiropractor focuses on or even has certification and increased training in. In cases of these types of injuries you want a chiropractor who can confidently treat sprains and strains, who can differentiate different types of injuries, and who will recognize when an injury is too severe for them and is also diligent enough to see certain warning signs and refer you to other providers when necessary. Many holistic chiropractors, though not all, are prone to viewing the spine in terms of subluxations only and may therefore miss the subtle signs of a more severe injury that requires the expertise of a specially-trained chiropractor, an orthopedist or neurologist. Though not a firm rule, a more mechanistic chiropractor may be a safer bet when a painful injury is involved.4. What professional associations serve the chiropractic profession, and how can this help you find the right DC? There are two large national organizations that represent chiropractors: the ACA and the ICA. The ACA is the American Chiropractic Association and the ICA is the International Chiropractic Association. The ACA is more mechanistic and the ICA is more holistic. State associations are more varied, so it is difficult to discern much about a chiropractor from looking at his or her state association membership unless you look into the political or philosophical leanings of that organization - a lot of work for finding a chiropractor. To make things simple, know that many ICA chiropractors actually oppose the ACA, and vice versa, so you can glean more from their membership (or non-membership) in national organizations than you can from other things you might find on the website or online listings for a chiropractor. It's important to not read too much into this bit of information, though, and of course to consider that all people are multi-dimensional and may not fit into the dichotomy I am describing. Still, as part of a larger set of information to make a judgement, this can be helpful to consider.5. Should you consider their websites, reviews, and testimonials? And how important are personal referrals? You may find out soon enough that many chiropractors use one of a handful of companies to make their websites. This means that if you go to ten different chiropractor's websites you may see the same website over and over again with just a different DC's name on it. This means the content is unoriginal and you likely cannot learn much about the chiropractor from their website. This reduces the value of the website. Chiropractors would be better off by ditching the spinning 3D spines and instead putting actual content on their sites. These sites are loaded with content but very little, if any, of the information on the site is unique to that chiropractor. Even articles with bylines that include that chiropractor's name are probably not articles written by that actual chiropractor. Suspect intellectual laziness and dishonesty when any professional puts his name and credentials on an article he or she did not author. Sciatica Relief

Can a Chiropractic help with Treatment of Hip Pain?

There are still many people who do not understand all the benefits that a chiropractic doctor can provide or how they can actually help you to improve your overall health. While even the traditional medical community is beginning to understand the benefits that doctors of chiropractic can provide to the medical field as a whole, many average citizens still look on chiropractors and chiropractic treatment with suspicion. There seems to be a lack of understanding on just how chiropractic treatment can be of benefit. For those who want to become informed about what chiropractic medicine can do for you here are the 5 most important benefits you can receive from a chiropractic care giver. Increase Immune System Function. Perhaps the biggest benefit that chiropractic care has to offer is that it can improve your immune system. Since a healthy immune system is necessary to maintaining your overall health improving the function of this system is a huge benefit to your health. Studies have shown that people who use chiropractic care regularly have fewer colds and when they do the symptoms are less severe. Helps to Manage Pain. Chiropractic care can also help you to manage your pain by helping to locate and correct serious nervous system stress, strengthen your muscles surrounding your nerves and advising you on the proper care of your body. Can Increase Your Range Of Movement. By helping you to manage and control your pain and strengthen your muscles chiropractic treatment can often help to increase your range of movements following an accident or injury. Chiropractors will work with you to find exercises that will continue to aid you in recovering all or most of the range of movements you had before the injury or accident. Avoid The Harmful Side Effects Of Many Drugs. Since chiropractic care is based on natural care they can help you avoid the use or overuse of pain medications and other drugs that often have serious side effects and can increase your health issues. The fewer drugs you take the less dangers await you down the road. Get The Right Medical Attention You Need. Since chiropractic medicine deals with your overall health and well-being a chiropractor often discovers health problems or conditions that are outside his realm of training. When this happens your chiropractor will refer you to a medical professional who can help you deal with these needs, helping to ensure your continued good health. A chiropractic doctor is just one of the options available for those of you who are concerned about your health. Sore Neck

Herniated Disk For those with tinnitus one thing is universally true, they would do just about anything to make the high pitched whining in their ears go away. Most doctors will tell you there is no cure for tinnitus; this is based on the fact that their treatments for this condition end in limited success, and for many people do not help at all. This does not mean that there is no cure for tinnitus, as much as that your average doctor may not hold the answer to your particular tinnitus problem. Tinnitus and chiropractic treatments are just one example of an alternative treatment that may hold promise for at least some tinnitus sufferers. Tinnitus and Chiropractic The truth is that there are so many different causes for tinnitus that not all tinnitus will be solved with the same treatments. What works for one person will not necessarily work for another, much depends on what is causing your tinnitus and sadly there is little research and therapies that can help you to determine this beyond seeing if your tinnitus is caused by hearing loss. For most people the best approach is one of persistence and trying various therapies until one or more of them work. One of the biggest mistakes most people make is they are so desperate to find a cure for the ringing in their ears that they hop around from one therapy to another much too quickly making the mistake of thinking that if they do not work in the first week or two they are not going to help at all. This is where knowledge and patience can really help, many treatments, chiropractic among them take time to work. The theory behind chiropractic is to reverse the subluxations in your spine that can reduce blood flow and impair nerves, since research has found that both of these conditions are thought to contribute to tinnitus; chiropractic has been shown for offer great improvement for many of those suffering from ringing in the ears. What About Those with Hearing Loss? If you have been told that hearing loss is the cause of your tinnitus and that there is nothing that you can do about it, do not give up searching for solutions. There is some research being done now, which indicates that tinnitus may not be so much a symptom of hearing loss for some, as it may make them more sensitive to, and more aware of the tinnitus as they strain to hear and become more aware of the sounds emanating from their ears. Chiropractors have found that the same treatments that help patients without hearing loss often help those with hearing loss. Often times there are many underlying causes for the ringing in your ears and addressing each one of these causes can help you have the best results for dealing with your condition. Does Chiropractic work for Everyone? Chiropractic for tinnitus is no miracle cure; it merely resolves one of the possible pathways by which many people's tinnitus may occur. It will certainly improve the blood flow and the communication of the nerves to the brain but if there are other underlying causes for the ringing in your ears chances are it will not make it go away completely. In other words chiropractics cannot hurt but may not always help as much as you expect it to. That is not to say you should give up on it, but perhaps you need to look further, try other remedies in addition to this one, as part of a complete solution to the ringing in your ears. Spine Pain

Spinal Traction in Chiropractic Medicine - What he can do to help?

Chiropractors are health care professionals who prevent and treat spinal injuries. The main principle of chiropractic is to maintain the coordination between the brain and the nervous system, where the functions of the body are sent through the spinal cord and the vertebrae. One of the most prominent procedures performed by this branch of health care is joint manipulation or more commonly termed "joint adjustment." Though it is a popular procedure for chiropractors, it is argued to have no long-term effects compared to the use of other methods of treatments. The American Medical Association (AMA) did not recognize Chiropractic care for years. In fact, the practice has been referred to as "the committee of quackery." Chiropractor critics often disagree with manipulation of the spinal cord as part of the methodology of the practice. They express a great concern about possible severe injuries caused by this manipulation, especially the rotary cervical or neck manipulation wherein a wrong twist has resulted in trauma, paralysis, strokes and death of the patient. Although many professionals in the medical field s still believe that the methods used by chiropractors are unscientific, chiropractic is growing in popularity. In fact, you see many chiropractors' offices in malls and in gyms. If you are a health conscious, the advice of a chiropractor will appeal to you, because they emphasize a healthy lifestyle, rather than relying on prescribed medicines or surgeries. Chiropractors use treatments that are considered alternative noninvasive health care practices, and treatments for the back, neck, joints and other extremities are more accepted by the public nowadays. Can a Chiropractor Help People With Pinched Nerve?

Many people wonder are chiropractors doctors and what do they do? Chiropractors are required to attend medical school for three years and earn a doctorate degree. This is the same degree dentists and doctors have. Chiropractors study medication and therapy while in school and typically focus on treating problems with the joints and spine. Every state requires chiropractors to obtain a license before they can practice. The same department handles licensing for all physicians. These professionals use x-rays to diagnose problems and are responsible for devising and implementing a treatment protocol for the patient. Some treatments involve manipulation of the joints and the back. Chiropractors offer alternative treatments for back pain that are noninvasive and less risky that surgery. Many health insurance policies will cover chiropractic care. There are certain neuromuscular conditions that will not respond to chiropractic medicine. In some cases, doctors and chiropractors will work together to come up with a suitable treatment for a patient. A chiropractor can offer patients more options when it comes to nontraditional treatments. Alternative treatments may be incorporated into the program to speed the patient's recovery. D.D. Palmer introduced chiropractic medicine in the late 17th century in Iowa. At the time, there were many people practicing medicine that had no experience and were making all kinds of promises to people about special elixirs and alternative treatment methods. Palmer's first school opened in 1895 and his son carried on in his father's footsteps. Unscientific treatment methods were abandoned and many doctors at that time were actually in agreement with chiropractors. To this day, chiropractic medicine is shunned in some medical circles and there are many patients who are missing out on treatments that can help because their doctors will not refer them to a chiropractor. Much of the friction between the professions disappeared when a chiropractor won a lawsuit against the American Medical Association during the 1908s. The AMA was found to have conspired to prevent chiropractors from practicing their trade using illegal restraint of trade practices. Since then various chiropractic organizations stay vigilant for libelous statements that can hurt the industry. So, the short answer to the question is, yes. Chiropractors are indeed doctors and many patients benefit from various treatments they will only get in a chiropractor's office. Anyone with back and joint problems can seek the advice of a local chiropractor and find a treatment protocol that suits their individual needs. Back Spasms
